Auburn traces Chris Davis’ Kick-Six path on Jordan-Hare turf

Chris Davis

Well, this is certainly one way to grab the attention of high-profile recruits.

Ahead of Big Cat Weekend, a huge recruiting event for Auburn, the football program has gone to great lengths to show potential recruits just what they would be stepping into if they were to sign on with the Tigers.  Or, more to the point, the AU Grounds Crew has gone to great lengths to spruce up their potential football home… and gloat a little about the recent past.

From that crew’s Twitter account:

Chris Davis Path

For those unfamiliar — or are still in denial — the grounds crew has retraced the path taken by Chris Davis, the hero of the latest edition of the Iron Bowl whose 100-yard (officially) return of a missed field goal improbably propelled the Tigers into the SEC championship game and, ultimately, a BCS title game berth.

As if Cam Newton dissing Alabama to a Tide verbal commitment wasn’t enough, now it’s the bitter rival going and picking this particular scab.  Speaking of said scab, here’s Davis’ miracle return last November:

Not an Auburn fan or an Alabama hater, but if they created an ESPN 4 and only played this video on that channel on a loop for the rest of the year, that’s all I would watch.

If you squint real hard you can also see an orange circle about the 12-13 yard line where Ricardo Louis hauled in the miracle pass against Georgia two weeks earlier.

Like Ohio State in 2006, they may have lost the National Championship Game, but they won the biggest game they played that year.

    War damn Eagle!
I found on iTunes a ringtone of the the Davis return done by AU broadcaster Rod Bramblett. I never answer my phone right away I wait for the part rod says “they’re not gonna keep em off the field tonight”. I still get chills.
