Video: five-star UM signee Jabrill Peppers is kinda fast

Jabrill Peppers

And by “kinda fast” I mean “your stopwatch had better have a Mach designation if you’re gonna time him.”

This past February, highly-touted New Jersey cornerback Jabrill Peppers followed through on his verbal commitment the year before by signing with Michigan.  Of the may things Peppers will bring to the Wolverines’ defense as a true freshman this season, speed is certainly one of them.  And, over the weekend, said speed was on full display.

At the state track meet this past Friday, the Paramus (NJ) Catholic High School easily won the 100-meter dash in the Non-Public A division for the second year in a row with a time of 10.52 seconds that’s tops in the state in any division this year.  That mark was just a one-hundredth of a second off his personal best.

For a reference point, the all-time high school record in the 100-meter dash is 10.15 by four different runners — all of whom, incidentally, hail from the state of Texas.

Peppers wasn’t challenged after the first 50 meters or so as he finished nearly a half-second ahead of his nearest competitor.  The runner who finished second?  Five-star Alabama football signee Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Below is the video of the race, with Peppers displaying his S-E-C speed:

In addition to the 100-meter title, Peppers also claimed the 200-meter title with a time of 21.98 that was good for the third-best time in the state this year.

Originally at don bosco in jersey. Was considered a lazy player. talented but feels privileged. Also a bit overrated, this coming from
    People who coached against him.

Kermit Whitfield is still the fastest in the FBS. In 2013 he ran a wind aided 10.15 100M, and a 10.21 100M in 2012. He also ran a 4.37 40 yard dash without training for it.

That’s world class speed, oh yeah, not SEC speed, FSU speed. He even beat the SEC speed on the same field during the BCS championship game.

SEC teams copied what FSU and Miami were doing during the 80s and 90s. Even UF had to recruit the same way.

    S-E-C speed?

10.52? And he will play In the Big 10? Impossible.

Kid from Nebraska ran a 10.56 this year.

Imagine having the best 100M sprinter in High School history in Jeff Demps running a legit 10.01 and Chris Rainey being his equal. And both at Florida at the same time? Could you imagine?
