Buckeye LB befriends four-year-old cancer fighter, room gets dusty

Florida A&M v Ohio State

Patrick Maks of ElevenWarriors.com, I am giving you a cyber standing ovation for this one.

Here’s the deal, in short: Joshua Perry, a junior linebacker at Ohio State, befriended a four-year-old little boy who’s bravely battling leukemia. As part of the developing and burgeoning relationship, Perry implored his Buckeye teammates via text message to record videos of encouragement for Joshua Chambers, the brave young man kicking the ass of the insidious disease.

Perry’s teammates responded in resounding fashion, with Chambers’ father forwarding what was described as “a flood of videos” to his son’s iPad.

Click HERE for Maks’ exceptionally well-written story — and I am imploring you to click it and read it in its entirety. ¬†And click “play” below for some of the player messages to the brave young man.

Bravo, Buckeyes, for the selfless acts. And kudos to Maks for bringing to light a story that should be shared and serve as an inspiration to others.

THIS is the kind of story that needs to be reported more often, and the credit should ALWAYS go to the young man who is performing these acts, NOT the school that he plays for b/c I’m sure that they had little to do with it.

This is awesome. Small gesture = huge impact for this little kid. Best of luck!

Thank you all for the kind words. Joshua Perry and his teammates are fine examples of what is right with college sports. The videos they sent our son were an incredible gesture of compassion. The school and program, as well as the entire Buckeye Nation has rallied around our son, including coaching staff, players past and present, fans, even the mascot. Kudos to Joshua Perry, and to The Ohio State University, and their fans.

It completely sucks to hear a little kid facing this incredibly horrifying life event and I am so elated that Joshua Perry and teammates have stepped up and are adding some joy and making a positive impact on his life!

GREAT STORY!.. Kudos to this young man who has taken his time to do something nice and comforting for a child. Its so refreshing to hear this type of activity rather than the crime riddled news pieces we’ve had to endure lately.

My prayers go up for the family of this little man… I hope he heals fully and completely for a long life ahead!
