Gamecocks losing former four-star WR to transfer

One of the highest-rated members of South Carolina’s recruiting class a couple of years ago has decided to part ways with the football program, 247Sports.com is reporting.

According to the recruiting website, wide receiver Jody Fuller has decided to transfer from the Gamecocks to another institution to continue his playing career. Among the schools mentioned are East Carolina and Appalachian State.

No reason for the decision to move on was given, although “search for more playing time” would be a good place to start.

Fuller was a four-star member of the Gamecocks’ 2012 recruiting class, rated as the No. 37 receiver in the country and the No. 8 player at any position in the state of North Carolina. Only two players in USC’s class that year were rated higher than Fuller: All-SEC running back Mike Davis and starting wide receiver Shaq Roland.

After redshirting as a true freshman, Fuller played in just one game and totaled a single catch in 2013.

Fuller is the second Gamecocks receiver to leave the program in the past couple of months. In mid-March, Kwinton Smith transferred out to an unknown destination.
