The summer conditioning program, intended to be the next step in prepping the upcoming season, has cost Ole Miss a player who was expected to be a significant contributor in its secondary in 2014.
Head coach Hugh Freeze confirmed to multiple media outlets that Chief Brown suffered a torn Achilles tendon during a recent workout. It’s unclear how exactly the player suffered the tear.
It’s expected that Brown will miss the entire 2014 season as the rehab for such an injury would be, at minimum, six months and could stretch out to eight months and beyond.
“Very sad,” Freeze was quoted as saying in regards to the injury.
Brown played in 25 games the past two seasons, including three starts in 2013.
