Kansas State announces sellout for Auburn game

Bill Snyder

It is somewhat rare for the defending SEC champion to take to the road the following season for a true road game against an opponent from another power conference early in the season, but Kansas State could not be more thankful for the way things shaped up this season. Kansas State announced a sell out for its September 18 home game against Auburn.

“K-State fans have stepped up again and are on the verge of another sold-out season at Bill Snyder Family Stadium,” said Athletics Director John Currie in a statement released by Kansas State. “We are closing in on 20 consecutive sellouts and expect to do so before the season begins, and we appreciate our fans’ support in making Bill Snyder Family Stadium on gamedays the best environment in the Big 12.”

Auburn is 3-0 in the series against Kansas State. The series dates back to 1978 and the last meeting came in 2007.

    Most likely going to be 4-0 after this one…

    Auburn fan here. Tigers beware. Lots of history for Thursday night road upsets. National TV. Crowd whipped into a frenzy. All summer to get ready for the Gus Bus. Anti-SEC chants. Watch out for this one. Could be much tougher than it would be in October…

    Yeah, I mean K State shouldn’t even bother suiting up, right 8to80? This is the almighty SEC we’re talking about. At this point, we might as well have the NFL and SEC switch places.

    Could someone please explain, why the SEC don’t play away games out from their southern dens? Because, if they’re all mighty they’d take their dominate show coast to coast instead of ESPN hyping their product.

    Huck,
    Auburn is traveling to Manhattan, KS which is not a tourist stop. Make your point somewhere else, but probably because there are better venues in places such as Dallas to play.

    It’s not to difficult to sell out a 60k stadium when you hewing in a top team like Auburn.

    Sportsguy,

    Look man….. Did you read what the artical started off with? “In some what a rare for a SEC champion to take on the following season to a true road game against an opponent from one of the power conferences”! You must be one of those stupid country Bumpkins that can’t comprehend anything but a kissing cousin… If you check all 14 teams in the SEC and their scheduling, it will show you that they don’t play many of the power conferences away from home.

    Considering the class of out-of-conference opponents Coach Snyder played back in the 90s, playing Auburn is surprising.

    @hardonforharden

    I didn’t say that K-State couldn’t win… I said that Auburn would most likely win. If Auburn wasn’t favored in the game I would be shocked.

    If this was 2-3 years ago, I would have said the exact opposite. Klein had the Wildcats humming and Chizik was running the Tigers into the ground. But things change…

    Kansas St. went 5-4 in the Big 12 last year and lost to an FCS team… Meanwhile Auburn went 7-1 in the SEC lost the national title by less than 1 score.

    You would have said the opposite 2-3 years ago because of the merits of the teams, not because A&M was still in the Big 12? Ok.
