Report: Rutgers lands ex-LSU QB Hayden Rettig

Earlier this week it was reported that Hayden Rettig would be visiting Piscataway as he attempted to determine his next step at the collegiate level. Just three days later, it appears the former LSU quarterback had one helluva trip to New Jersey.

While the school has yet to confirm it, Bruce Feldman of FOXSports.com is reporting that Rettig has decided to transfer to Rutgers. Because of NCAA transfer rules, Rettig will be forced to sit out the 2014 season.

Come 2015, however, the Scarlet Knights will be getting a potential starter at the all-important quarterback position for (potentially) three years.

Rettig was a four-star member of LSU’s 2013 recruiting class coming out of high school in Los Angeles, Calif., rated as the No. 3 pro-style quarterback in the country… and the No. 73 player at any position in that class… and the No. 9 player at any position in the state of California. He took a redshirt as a true freshman.

One potential landing spot for Rettig, who confirmed late last month that he would be transferring from the Tigers, was initially speculated to be Boston College. Rettig’s brother, Chase Rettig, started 45 straight games for the Eagles from 2010-13.
