Champion ‘Noles may not make White House pilgrimage

Going back the past decade, football teams that have won the BCS title have been feted at the White House by the sitting president. Hell, Nick Saban is downright buddy-buddy with President Obama.

As Florida State is the latest -- and last -- to claim the crystal football, the Seminoles have been afforded the opportunity to be honored at the White House. The only problem is the football team and the folks who run 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue can’t seem to find a date that’s suitable for both sides.

Thus, FSU is in danger of becoming the first football squad in a number of years to not be able to take advantage of the honor.

“We’re trying. It looks like it’s going to be hard because all the pro players are going, coaches are going on vacation,” head coach Jimbo Fisher said according to the Orlando Sentinel. “We’ve tried to give them a thousand dates, but we couldn’t get it worked out.”

The last three years, Alabama twice visited the White House in April while Auburn took its D.C. junket in early June following their title for the 2010 season.
