When it comes to arrests, the Big Ten has been showing SEC speed of late.
Fresh on the heels of a pair of Nebraska Cornhusker arrests/citations, Iowa is the latest from Jim Delany‘s conference facing an off-field issue. Specifically, the Iowa City Press-Citizen is reporting, Hawkeye defensive lineman Dean Tsopanides was charged very late Saturday night with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
The arrest and charge came after a traffic stop by university police.
According to the complaint, UI Police stopped Tsopanides for expired registration, but an officer smelled alcohol on the defendant at the window. Tsopanides allegedly failed HGN testing, but passed both walk and turn and one leg stand tests.
Tsopanides was a two-star member of the Hawkeyes’ 2011 recruiting class. After redshirting as a true freshman, Tsopanides has failed to see the field in any game the past two seasons.
