Will Mahone indefinitely suspended by the Irish

Will Mahone AP

As expected, Will Mahone will be spending some time away from his Notre Dame teammates this summer.

The Irish announced via Twitter that the wide receiver has been indefinitely suspended by head coach Brian Kelly.  The punitive measure comes the same day after reports surfaced that Mahone was arrested on multiple counts over the weekend, the details of which were quite disturbing.

Mahone was officially charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, intimidation of a public servant and vandalism of a government entity. The latter three charges are the felonies.

The player will also likely be facing some form of punishment from the Office of Residence Life, up to and including an expulsion from school.

A four-star member of the Irish’s 2012 recruiting class, Mahone was rated as the No. 18 running back in the country.  He moved to wide receiver this spring.

Mahone has not recorded any rushing or receiving statistics during his two years in South Bend.

He’ll be continuing his football career at Youngstown State after he gets out of jail.

As I said earlier, ND will not stand for this type of behavior.
