Pair of reserve defensive players leave Mizzou

Missouri is the latest FBS football program to see players hop on the attrition train and head out of town.

A school spokesman confirmed to the Columbia Tribune Monday evening that junior cornerback Ernest Payton and redshirt freshman defensive tackle DeQuinton Osborne have both left the team. No reason was given for the twin departures.

Of the two, Payton was the one most likely to see playing time. Prior to tearing an ACL during practice one game into the season, Payton was listed as a No. 2 corner on the depth chart. The lingering effects from that injury, however, buried him on the depth chart this spring.

Osborne was a two-star member of Mizzou’s 2013 recruiting class. He took a redshirt as a true freshman.
