On June 21, 2012, Ball State announced the addition of Brandon Newman, a transfer defensive lineman from Notre Dame.
Nearly two years to the day, it’s lather (with Irish Spring), rinse and repeat for the Cardinals.
In a release, Ball State announced that Bruce Heggie has transferred into Pete Lembo‘s football program. Heggie, a defensive lineman, comes to the alma mater of David Letterman from, of course, Notre Dame.
In addition to Heggie, the Cardinals also announced the addition of JUCO transfer and fellow lineman Julian Jackson.
“We are pleased to welcome Bruce and Julian to the Ball State football family,” Lembo said in a statement. “It has been a real pleasure getting to know both young men and their families over the last several months. Both of these student-athletes are here because they really liked how they fit in with our players and coaches when they visited the campus. They are also excited about the academic opportunities the university has to offer.
“The addition of two mature defensive linemen should increase the competition for playing time and our depth when preseason camp begins in late July.”
Heggie played in nine games the past three seasons: four in 2013, three in 2012 and two in 2011. Because he will be a graduate transfer, the 6-5, 290-pound Heggie will be eligible to play immediately in 2014.
