Report: Baylor WR Rhodes no longer on team

Art Briles

One of the top promising young receivers for the defending Big 12 champions will not be back in Waco this fall.

Robbie Rhodes is reportedly no longer with the team. Baylor head coach Art Briles confirmed the news Monday.

Rhodes managed to avoid having drug charges levied against him earlier this month. He had previously been arrested for possession of marijuana and tampering with physical evidence. The district attorney in McLennan County decided not to pursue charges after being presented with drug tests showing a clean history for Rhodes.

Rhodes appeared in 11 games last season for Baylor, recording 10 receptions for 157 yards. Where he goes from here is unknown at this time for the true sophomore. He still has three years of eligibility remaining.

Didn’t they have a guy last year that was so stoned he passed out in the drive thru of a Taco Bell? Briles benched him for the first quarter, and he ended up being the leading receiver in the game.

This doesn’t add up. Rhodes must have beat up Briles’ mom or something.

@goodfieldnohit I created this account just to let you know that you are an insensitive idiot with little knowledge of Baylor football and the strong individual who leads the program.

First and foremost, the Taco Bell incident happened in 2010 (last year was 2013), and that “guy” was Josh Gordon. Say what you want about the decisions he has made, but at least KNOW about what you’re criticizing.

Which brings me to my second point, Art Briles’ parents were killed in a car wreck in 1976 en route to seeing him play against SMU as a Houston Cougar. Coach Briles was just 20 years old. Whether you respect the program or not is irrelevant, but at least have the decency to respect the family of an individual who has endured and overcome far worse hardships than most keyboard warriors like yourself could ever fathom.

If you have any trace of a brain, “this should add up” to asinine- which ironically happens to describe your comment. Google it.
    Sic ‘em.

Butane, no need to feed the trolls bud. All that clown does is go on Big XII feeds and spew lies and idiotic statements. Typical aggy.

Briles is a good coach and a good guy, but a disciplinarian he ain’t. …This guy was causing more problems than his ability could make up for…if he could help them win he’d still be there
