Wazzu lands four-star 2014 Cal signee

Chandler Leniu

Cal’s recruiting loss has turned into a gain for a fellow Pac-12 member.

In a press release Tuesday, head coach Mike Leach announced that Chandler Leniu has signed a financial aid agreement and will play for Washington State this season. Because he did not take any classes at his previous school, Leniu will is eligible immediately.

Leniu originally signed with Cal in February of this year. The reason for his moving to the Cougars from the Golden Bears is unknown at this time, although the speculation centers on the academic side of the equation.

Leniu was a four-star member of Cal’s 2014 recruiting class, rated as the No. 11 inside linebacker in the country. ¬†Along with running back Tre Watson, he was the second-highest-rated recruits in this year’s class behind wide receiver Erik Brown.
