Auburn’s Jonathon Mincy popped for pot possession

Oh these wacky kids and their, well, wacky weed.

The latest player to set the “Days Without An Arrest” ticker back to double zeroes is Jonathon Mincy, the Auburn defensive back who was arrested at some point Friday and charged with (gasp!) marijuana possession in the second degree. Lest the “second-degree” nature of the “crime” fool you, it’s a misdemeanor.

Here are the details of what led to Mincy’s arrest, courtesy of al.com:

Henry County Sheriff’s Office said that Mincy was a passenger in a vehicle with four people that was pulled over for speeding.

The vehicle was allegedly traveling at 92 mph in a 65 mph zone on Highway 431.

(Writer’s note: apparently the driver wasn’t partaking in any alleged herb inhalation as, if he/she were, they would’ve been pulled over for traveling at 29 mph in a 65 mph zone.)

Quincy has started 29 games during his time on The Plains, including all 14 last season during the Tigers’ run to the BCS title game. What type of punitive measures the long-time starter may be facing in relation to this off-field hiccup are unclear.
