Who’s the biggest hitter in college football?

Karl Joseph, Curry Sexton

NFL.com set out to answer that very question and came up with a list of 14 bone-crushing tacklers. There are some household names on there — Hayes Pullard, Shaq Thompson, Landon Collins — but none of those guys rank in the top four.

Instead, it’s a West Virginia safety who’s No. 1.

For my money, the hardest hit I’ve ever seen in person at a college football game came here — skip to about the 6:25 mark. Of course, it was illegal, but that one always sticks out.

Those hits don’t come close to the hits Ray Malaluga and Taylor Mays, put on Pac-10 opponents back in 2008.

How about that lick that Jordan Zumwalt put on Logan Thomas last season if we’re going look back in history.

You can’t promote hard hits! Oh wait, this isn’t the NFL.

Reggie “The Eraser” Nelson used to make some vicious hits as well as Major Wright but this kid does hit pretty hard.
