Ohio State edges Penn State’s student ticket sales total

Penn State announced the school had sold out all 21,000 student section seats for the upcoming season, the first with new head coach James Franklin at the helm. If there is a battle for student section attendance, Ohio State has the upper hand in the Big Ten East Division this fall.

Ohio State has claimed to sell close to 30,000 tickets to students.

“The student demand was strong and we reacted by not ending the sale at the set allotment,” Brett Scarbrough, assistant athletic director for ticketing and premium seating, said in a release, according to Cleveland.com. “The additional seating in Ohio Stadium allowed us the opportunity to sell more student packages and to also have some inventory available for the single game sale.”

It helps that Penn State and Ohio State have two of the larger stadiums in the country, which allows for more seating made available to students of course. Students should be easy to sell tickets to at programs like Ohio State and Penn State, but the real attendance winners will be determined once it is seen how many fans actually turn out for games this fall. Penn State has seen attendance dip in recent years but Franklin is on a mission to make sure there are 107,000 fans in Beaver Stadium for each home game this fall.

Given Ohio State’s chances to be a playoff contender in the first year of the College Football Playoff, there should be plenty of fans filling up Ohio Stadium this fall as well.

Well one is a school coming fresh off a molestation scandal and the other is coming fresh off of a bowl where they got molested… Neither is really relevant since they are in a third rate conference though.

Here comes that silly clemsun troll again. Through the years I would actually feel bad for clemsun because they would always lose “the big game” or always find a way to find that one shoulda woulda coulda loss. Now it’s just funny. 1 national title in all those years.

Still trying to find a tradition. Still trying to be relevant. Never will.

Seriously, this clemson guy is a piece of work. Has anyone ever been so proud of a season where the most significant things that happened were: 1) getting absolutely humiliated at home by Florida State, 2) losing for the fifth straight year to their in-state big brother and 3) playing a team that he says “sucks” in their bowl game and winning by a whopping five points.

All that, and this dope acts like 2013 Clemson was 1995 Nebraska

Clemson, your star QB threw the game away at the end, yet you brag about the win like you are 06 Florida. You beat the worst OSU defense since the 80s. Your defense was just as bad. Just be glad you won and act like you have been there before. The problem is you haven’t. What losers.

    Manik and youcantmakemepickausername,

Way to put him to rest! Well said!

Awww I’m sorry guys. I was just trolling you a little bit, no need to cry. I forgot it must be really hard to live in Ohio where people think Cincinnati chili is a good thing, there’s nothing to do, and even the better looking women of the state resemble Fred Sanford. But look in the bright side! You have at least a months left to think that you’re going to be the next national champions until some real team from the south comes and snacks you back down to reality again. So cheers to that!

O$U offers free tattoos, free cars, extra $$$ if needed. The most corrupt program in football. Even the $EC admires what their able to get away with.

That’s Cheaters with an “s”, how are you going to insult someone if you can’t even spell it right?

The bigger issue here, gents, is that both schools apportion less than 30% of their available seating to students.

Also, Kevin, yes, it’s true that the average attendance of 96K per game in 2013 is a ‘dip’ but don’t forget that PSU still ranks 5th nationally.

That’s why us Ohioans take over sc and myrtle beach. We help you pay your bills lol!!!

Well we don’t ever have to worry about clemsun playing us in a national championship game. LoL when was the last time they were in one???

  16. finan14 says: Jul 2, 2014 5:40 PM

I don’t know why all you people ever talk about is the scandal at PSU. They’re actually not a bad football team. And they’re on the rise, plus everybody saying that the sanctions are going to get lifted. So you never know. Even though their first game back in a bowl if they play somebody from the SEC the probably get beat but it’s not like Ohio State or Michigan wouldn’t get either so.

Lol you take over the white trashiest beach in the state I went to college in and couldn’t wait to move out of as soon as I graduated… Your vacation venue says all I need to know… South Carolina does barbecue and college football really well, besides that it’s not a place I’d visit unless it’s Charleston. Clemson hasn’t had the luxury of playing against the B1G and Big East it’s whole duration but we did manage to win a National Championship against a legitimate opponent in 1981.

  18. jrs45 says: Jul 2, 2014 7:18 PM

Dude you’re too funny! Well to be honest I live in the best beach in the country (Siesta Key, Fla) which is loaded with fellow OSU Alums. I attack you the troll that you are because you simply rip on everyone’s team while yours is still trying to find a tradition. You are a clemsun tiger! Not LSU, not ALabama, not Florida or Fla St. Not even close to any of them. But yet you think “your” university is all that. Ripping on OSU and PSU for the problems they have I understand; but the 3rd grade jokes about child abuse really get a life. Oh btw I’d rank the 02-03 canes over the ’81 2nd place team any day.

    Take care troll!
