Notre Dame WR no longer enrolled while charges pending

Notre Dame v Michigan

Notre Dame indefinitely suspended wide receiver Will Mahone last month, which is typical for any player at any school facing legal troubles. As it turns out, Mahone’s removal from the team has been taken a bit farther. Mahone is no longer enrolled at Notre Dame.

The South Bend Tribune confirmed with a university source Mahone is no longer enrolled at the university on Monday. An attorney representing Mahone told the newspaper his client would like to return to Notre Dame but is understanding that may not be a possibility as long as charges are pending, three of which are felonies.

“That’s what the school has told him,” Mahone’s attorney, James Gentile said. “If for some reason those felonies are reduced or something happens, then he’s free to reapply.”

Mahone was arrested in mid-June and charged with five different counts, including one for assaulting a police officer. The details of the arrest were not exactly pleasant. According to Inside the IrishMahone has pled not guilty to the misdemeanor charges, and has until a pretrial hearing in mid-July to decide how to handle the felony charges.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 23.

Must not be a starter or he would never go to trial.

I’ll still take, disorderly conduct, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, intimidation of a public servant and vandalism of a government entity over rape and stealing crab legs any day.

You don’t know ND. Remember they threw their QB out of school for cheating!! That’s the QB that took them to the NC game.

Why they are even discussing the idea of playing college athletics with this guy is amazing. He has no place in society if that’s the way he behaves. I hope they have this on dashcam so he can’t claim those racist whitey cops made it all up. I read the details of his arrest and that sounds like someone who’s completely out of control. This dude needs some serious help and if he doesn’t get it he’ll be in prison for life.
