Oprah getting in on the Jerry Sandusky story with new interview

Matt Sandusky

Have you had enough already of the Jerry Sandusky story? Well, too bad, because now Oprah Winfrey is getting in on the three-year old story.

Matt Sandusky, the oldest son of the former Penn State assistant coach, has been interviewed by Winfrey, a veteran talk show host and interviewer. In the interview, Sandusky reportedly describes grooming, methodical control and manipulation by his father in claiming sexual abuse by Jerry Sandusky. The interview will be scheduled to air on July 17 on The Oprah Winfrey Network.

Jerry Sandusky was sentenced two years ago on 45 counts related to sexual abuse of children, effectively handing him a life sentence. During the trial, Matt Sandusky spoke out and claimed to have been abused by his father in addition to the known victims at the time of the trial.

Penn State was criticized for its response to Sandusky. An internal review of the university by former FBI director Louis Freeh led to the NCAA slamming the school with hefty sanctions. Penn State will start the 2014 season with two years of a postseason ban remaining, unless the NCAA alters the sentence to the program any more. The NCAA has already given back a number of scholarships to the football program.

Will you be watching the upcoming Matt Sandusky interview with Oprah, or have you heard and seen enough at this point?

I wouldn’t watch Oprah interview anyone about anything. She’s bad enough on her own but I also hold her responsible for unleashing clowns like Dr Phil and Dr Oz on the public. She’s hideous.

Oprah’s about 2 years too late on this story.

Yes, because Oprah is THE authority on football.

Actually, she is more round in the middle so I suppose she does kind of look like a football.

This would have been a big and relevant interview…in 2011.

The issue is over with when Oprah picks it up.

Maybe we get Tom Cruise to be special guest, he can jump up and down screaming love, while Sandusky jr, cries rape. Than we can get the ex mayor of Cincinnati Jerry Springer to co-host. And I wonder why I watch law n order or ncis all day.

Never should have taken down the Joe Pa statue. Classic case of over reacting and pleasing the media.

Jerry will be in prison/jail until he dies of old age or kills himself.

All the kids he assaulted deserve at least that much.

I would have been interested in what Matt Sandusky had to say 2 years ago, but at this point, I have no interest in anything relating to that despicable person.

I’m curious why he’s doing this interview now.

“Will you be watching the upcoming Matt Sandusky interview with Oprah, or have you heard and seen enough at this point?”

Translation: okay, my hateful (white) audience, here’s your chance to prove that your disgust for Jerry Sandusky is trumped only by your hatred for Oprah Winfrey–or any successful black person.

Yeah, I know my comment wont make it. After all, I don’t boast a screen name with the word watermelon, or refer to anyone as a “crack head.”

I’m a white Regan Republican and don’t often side with people accusing others of blatant racism. In this case, 11inthebox, has a valid point. I agree with the comments about the interview being old news, but what has Oprah ever done to warrant these personal attacks?

Never should have taken down the Joe Pa statue. Classic case of over reacting and pleasing the media.

Or or or the university was disgusted by the actions of the head coach who put wins and millions in donations/ TV contracts, game revenue, and merhandising over the safety of children while a predator had free reigns of the campus.

  21. auburntigers34 says: Jul 9, 2014 8:04 PM

yeah, hating Oprah for giving her stamp of approval to proven frauds like Dr Phil, Dr Oz, and numerous other self help “gurus” clearly means that you’re a racist that hates every successful black person on the planet.

Earl Campbell, Brent Fullwood and Bo Jackson aren’t right up there with John Wayne as my heroes from childhood. i promise.

This will be a ratings disaster.

I would be interested in knowing what “Dottie’s” take is on this interview and how much of a relationship does she have with this particular son of hers. I say that because she was recently (within the past 6 months) interviewed and was insistent that these charges against him were “made up for money purposes”, people trying to exploit the issue for their own personal gain. Does she include her son in that category?
