The SEC will be opening up its SEC Media Day event on Monday, and it could have a special guest on hand. A teaser video released by the College Football Playoff points to Monday, July 14 as the potential date to unveil the brand new trophy. It taking place at SEC Media Days seems fitting, considering the SEC’s dominance in the BCS era down the stretch, until having a seven-year streak snapped by Florida State last January.
It has been rumored the new trophy will abandon the crystal football that has been iconic on the previous coaches trophy awarded to the BCS national champion, thus signaling the end to one particular website.
