The quarterback cavalry has officially arrived in Baton Rouge. Or something like that.
Following up on the reports from Monday, LSU officially confirmed Tuesday that Jared Foster has decided to join — actually, rejoin — the Tigers football team. Foster has spent the past three seasons as an outfielder on the LSU baseball team.
In 2011, Foster was a walk-on quarterback for the Tigers. Buried on the depth chart, he switched his attention to baseball full-time shortly thereafter.
Because of a pair of transfers this offseason, LSU was set to head into summer camp with just two scholarship players at the quarterback position. At most, and barring injuries, Foster will serve as a No. 3, emergency-type quarterback behind sophomore Anthony Jennings and freshman Brandon Harris.
