Report: Alabama suspends two players

Alabama has suspended running back Kenyan Drake and defensive end Jarran Reed, but the two remain a part of the football program. The news came out on the final day of SEC Media Week, with Alabama head coach Nick Saban addressing the media for the first time this week.

The reasons for the suspensions are technically unknown at this time, other than the typical violation of team rules explanation, although the news ticker from the last couple of weeks may be able to quickly shed some light on the situation. Drake was reportedly arrested earlier this month for obstructing a government operation. Reed was arrested an charged for a DUI earlier this month.

For now, the two remain a part of the program in Tuscaloosa. Andrew Gribble of Al.com reports Saban decided to stick to his track record of not announcing lengths of suspensions until closer to the start of the season. A final call for Drake and Reed may not come until the days leading up to Alabama’s season opener against West Virginia in Atlanta.
