Steve Spurrier: ‘Dabo still thinks there are nine planets out there’

AP Photo/Richard Shiro AP

At ACC Media Days, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said his relationship with Steve Spurrier was like they were from different planets — Pluto and Mars.

Pluto, of course, hasn’t been a planet since 2006. But leave it to Spurrier to remind Swinney of that:

Spurrier used his time going through ESPN’s “Car Wash” to take another jab at Clemson, too.

Clemson hasn’t beat South Carolina since 2008…when Pluto was only two years removed from having its planetary status stripped.

How do you just not love the HBC…

In this overly PC world that we live in with no one ever wanting to give any kind of bulletin board material, the HBC is out there talking trash to the in state rival…

    I love college football.

EXCEPT that 33% of the HBC recruit class for this year are academically disqualified and will have to go to JUCO,,,yeah quality coach that chicken master….

Yeah what a terrible coach he must be recruiting football players and expecting them to make the grades. How dare he not do their schoolwork for them.

    Never change, Spurrier, never change…

Spurrier is the Honey Badger of college football. I hope he keeps at it until he’s 90.

Spurrier should ask his players how many planets there are. I bet less than 5% get it right.

Pluto will always be a planet in my heart.

Wait! What? Pluto isn’t a planet any longer? Why, did Mickey Mouse abandon him?

I think most of Spurrier’s comments are funny but I don’t like the latest one. Why not just call Dabo stupid? That’s what he’s saying. I’m all for having fun and trading jabs but I don’t think he should get personal. Besides, as someone else said, I’d be all of his players think Pluto is a dog.

    Classic O.B.C.

    Spurrier is a douche

  19. cardmagnet says: Jul 22, 2014 4:00 PM

Pluto is a planet, albeit a dwarf planet. (all squares are rectangles, not all rectangles are squares scenario)

  20. sportsdrenched says: Jul 22, 2014 5:58 PM

We need more of this in all sports, not just CFB.

(and there’s hundreds of confirmed planets, BTW)

  21. cucatcher says: Jul 22, 2014 9:56 PM

I’d love to buy Spurrier for what he’s worth and sell him for what he thinks he’s worth! Come back to the ACC if you think you can win it and go BSC’ing.

  23. tnfire69 says: Jul 23, 2014 10:18 PM

Spurrier makes me laugh so much. I don’t know who makes me laugh more: him or Les Miles

  24. longtallsam says: Jul 24, 2014 4:43 PM

Dabo Swinney said “He’s from Pluto, I’m from Mars”.

Just where in that comment did Dabo say Pluto is a planet? Spurrier was an ass a Florida, and he’s still an ass.
