Urban Meyer wants LeBron James at OSU games

Basketball megastar LeBron James described his time with the Miami Heat as his “college experience.” Now that “The King” is “coming home” to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers, The Ohio State University would like to expand on his so-called college experience this fall by making James a permanent fixture on the football team’s sidelines.

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer was asked about James’ return to Ohio during the Big Ten’s media days. Meyer made sure to point out he has an open door policy with James.

James is one of the world’s most famous athletes, and the reason to have him around is obvious. James is a living and breathing recruiting tool, and coaches love to use every tool at their disposal.

Unfortunately, NBA training camps open at the start of October, and James will likely miss the bulk of Ohio State’s conference games, unless he has an off day or two from practice and games.

If Meyer really wanted James around more, he could have done exactly what the basketball program did and bequeath a permanent locker to James somewhere in the football facilities.

After all, there appears to be more than enough room in the team’s new extravagant new locker room to grant “The King” a throne…

Lol. This guy is unreal. Yeah because LeBron has nothing better to do than stand out in the cold to watch you clowns play your scrimmages against sorry Little 14 teams.

You do know Urb that the NBA training camps and season start in October right?

Son, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than when you walk into that Buckeye locker room. Be strong.

I don’t have any problem with Urban asking LeBron James to show up for some Ohio State games. (James may have a problem with Urban telling him to be there.) If it helps them recruit, good for the Buckeyes.

But I’d love for buckcat to explain what this story has to do with the SEC. Then again, I guess “$E¢! $E¢!” is appropriate since our former players go on to earn big bucks in the pros. Our teams don’t need to beg basketball players to hang out on the sidelines to help recruit. Alabama regularly has NFL players on the sidelines who show up because they want to be there. I’m sure that’s the same with all the SEC teams.

s$c haters. The Buckeyes are coming for you.

I’m trying to figure out what that has to do with anything jrs45. Cyber stalker?

Urban is not begging anyone. LeBron has a relationship with the football program and has been on the sidelines many times in the past. The invitation is simply an invitation.

And having possibly THE MUST FAMOUS SPORTS FIGURE ON THE PLANET on your sidelines is not quite the same as former players turned pro hanging with their old team. Don’t think for a second Saban wouldn’t do the same if LeBron was Roll Tide.

The SEC owns the Suckeyes. They don’t fear overrated scrub teams who have QB’S that can’t throw the ball.

0-9 with a forfeited win vs the SEC. You can shut up now

  19. tendigitpoet says: Jul 30, 2014 7:04 AM

No offense, but if the Browns make you crazy, try finding a real NFL team to support instead of trolling around here.

That’s bowl records. Wager a guess on ALL games played over time? I’ll let you look it up. Unless of course you’re a typical SEC puppet who can only spew (the same) one liners over and over.

Oh, and using your metric *ichigan pretty much owns the SEC in bowl games. See how relevant your stat is now?

  21. Deb says: Jul 30, 2014 11:47 AM

    @angelheartsbuckeyes …

    Thought my comment was self-explanatory.

The first paragraph addressed how I feel about Urban and LeBron, and it was very nice: I have no problem with him asking a famous BB player to be on his sidelines. If it helps with recruiting, good for the Buckeyes.

The second paragraph was a DIRECT response to yet another B1G jackass who decided this article that has nothing to do with the SEC was yet another opportunity to slam the SEC. Don’t know why you decided to take issue with one word used while I was very clearly firing back at someone who shot first.

As for LeBron being THE BIGGEST GREATEST MOST WONDERFUL HUMAN IN THE HISTORY OF HUMANS … I don’t care. I’m not a basketball fan, so he’s nothing to me except a guy with a big ego. Get Ali on your sideline, and I’ll be impressed. And from all the nauseating hype over the World Cup, I imagine there’s some soccer player I don’t care about either who’s much more famous than an American NBA star with the rest of the planet.

  22. jrs45 says: Jul 30, 2014 1:30 PM

Actually the Buckeyes beat A&M in the 90s lol.

  23. mistagooch says: Jul 30, 2014 2:38 PM

Saban: “Hey, this is coach. I’m calling you to ask all former Tide player’s if they could make it back to Tuscaloosa for a game this year. You know, to hang out on the sidelines, have some fun and to show your support to Bama. Can you make it?”

Former Tide Player: “Well coach I’d love too. Unfortunately i don’t think you’ll have much success with this mission as most of us former and present Bama football players are in jail. Can I send a post card?”

    Saban: *hangs up phone*

  24. angelheartsbuckeyes says: Jul 30, 2014 8:26 PM

Why so sensitive? Whether you were ‘firing back’ at yet another B1G hack taking a shot at the SEC or not, you said Urban is begging and that is not the case. You can keep your bitchiness to yourself with your self explanatory comment. You got some nerve climbing on your soapbox to attack someone for being an idiot asshole while at the same time insulting someone else’s intelligence.

Why you so worried about what some dummy from the ‘lowly’ B1G thinks about the SEC anyway? Go count your crystal footballs and bagmen and jump off this tOSU / B1G storyline.

Oh, and P. S. If I took time the time to respond to every SEC mouth breather who had something ignorant to say about my conference, I’d wouldn’t have any time left to count my Heisman winners.

LOL! A very FEW of $ECheat players make the pro’s. You make it sounld like most all of them do. Problem is, is that the ones that don’t end up working for Big 10, Pac 10, ACC, etc graduates because they sure as hell don’t get an edjamacation down there. Most common phrase for $ECheat “graduate” football player is “want fries with that?” LOL!

  26. Deb says: Jul 31, 2014 7:38 PM

    @angel …

Congrats. You overreacted to a comment that had nothing to do with you, I questioned why you overreacted, and you behaved like an alleycat and told me to get off my soapbox. It’s a football blog, little girl. If you can’t stand the heat, don’t post. As always, I say what I think and post where I please. But I don’t just comment when I know the audience is stacked in my favor.

Nothing I said indicated being “worried” about anyone. You were the one who cracked up because I said Urban was begging for LeBron’s attention–and he was. When you tweet demanding someone show up on your sidelines, that indicates some desperation. So does throwing in an idiotic line about counting Heismans to people who’ve been winning quite a few championships.

But smile … at least you did win the bitchiness prize.
