Reports: Josh Turner has dismissal reversed, still with ‘Horns

Mississippi v Texas

Hold the phone on at least one of the players reportedly booted past the Austin city limits.

Both and 24/ are reporting that Josh Turner is once again a member of the Texas football team.  Per the latter recruiting website, Turner was set to transfer when, “just prior to Turner finalizing his plans, head coach Charlie Strong allowed Turner to appeal to the decision of his dismissal.”

A meeting with head coach Charlie Strong was held Tuesday night that went well enough that Turner was placed back on the team, albeit with what 247Sports termed as “severe restrictions.” What those restrictions entail wasn’t divulged.

Turner has started five games in the secondary during his 37-game UT career.  He will be a senior in 2014.

Running back Joe Bergeron and Jalen Overstreet along with defensive end Chevoski Collins remain on the outside of the program looking in and are not expected to see their dismissals reversed. Bergeron is seeking to be released from his scholarship so he can transfer to a Div. II school in the state.

Hold your ground coach. Give them an inch and they’ll take a mile.

I really like Charlie Strong. But this looks to be a major goof. The beginning is the time to set a tone. If he wasn’t sure about booting him off the team, he shouldn’t have taken it that far. This just makes other guys think that if they can spin a good enough story they can skate just like they did with the last coaching staff.

Safety Josh Turner, who was already on Charlie Strong’s dreaded “zero-tolerarance probation”, is now on double-zero tolerance probation…

“Kick the bums off! There’s no room for thugs here!….Oh he’s back on the team!? Well….to err is human but to forgive is Strong!”

And you can forget about #4 on the list now:

Hey Aggie, tells us what all was said in that meeting so we can know what’s really going on. What’s that, you weren’t there, you’re just an Aggie troll doing what Ag’s do best…which is absolutely nothing. Palabra…keep it up troll. #casemccoyownsyou

Oohh, you said word in Spanish. I am so impressed.

It’s fun watching your clown show.

Goodfield has his head in the sand about what’s happening at his school but likes to point fingers at others. It’s what they do best. Meanwhile, Sumlin is letting the inmates run the asylum.

@tgaustin is all over every story about an A&M kid in trouble but @goodfieldnohit is the troll?

    “keep your head up kev”

If you can’t take it, don’t dish it.

I’m sorry 8to8, don’t remember asking your opinion. You’re late to the game with Goodshit and his hard on for Texas.

BTW, “keep your head up Kev” isn’t exactly piling on buddy. I also don’t troll Aggie websites nor to I troll the twitter accounts of potential recruits, hoping they commit to Texas.

You see this is and will always be Ag’s biggest problem…worrying about what goes on at Texas and not your own university. Once again, WIN SOMETHING, ANYTHING of importance, then get back to us!

I’m here all day long my friend, so pile on all you want and expect a response…that’s what generally happens 99% of the time. I could give two shits about how awesome your team does in recruiting or how big your score board is. You guys still can’t get to the big game! Always a moral victory for Aggie isn’t it.

    What else you got?

I’m sorry @tgaustin I didn’t realize this comment section was only for people’s opinion whom you’ve asked for.

But now that you’ve asked for it… you, like many UT fans, have your head in the sand about the problems at UT. You keep leaning back on that national title you won a decade ago, but the further we get from that, the harder it is to lean on. I understand our only title was 75 years ago, but we don’t lean on that one like you guys do the ’05 one. Sure, Strong was a good hire, and as I’ve said multiple times, I expect good things from him. But he’s not the problem. The problem is the conference is sinking and the members know it, the recruits know it, and the media knows it. That’s why even though Stoops knows our schedule is WAY tougher than his, he’s taking shots at us and the SEC. An SEC school in Texas is like a fox in the henhouse.

Come back at me with your “we’ve won stuff and you haven’t” schtick and maybe that’s true… In my lifetime (1979), UT has 1 national title to A&M’s none, UT has 1 Heisman to A&Ms 1, UT has 7 conference titles to A&M’s 7, and the Aggies lead the series 17-16.

I’m sure you’re going to come back at me with BCS bowls or whatever, and that’s fine, you win. By no means am I saying that A&M is historically a better program. But you’re missing the point. For the first time in a long time, maybe ever, A&M is a real threat to UT. The SEC is a game changer and you know it. Accept it and do something about it, or do what you have been doing and dig your head further down in the sand.

Hope Charlie is as good a coach as he is a disciplinarian. Bottm line is winning football games. Brown was too much of a melba toast, look the other way coach, however, either extreme can be damaging.

    He calls me goodshit.

He has the maturity of a 12 year old.

Enjoy your clown show, the rest of us are all on board.

  12. goodfieldnohit says: Aug 1, 2014 12:05 AM

And before we all get bowed up on how Charlie Strong is a disciplinarian, let’s not lose sight of the fact that he and Urban ran the equivlalent of a halfway house at Florida for 9 years.

    Aaron Hernandez, anyone?

  13. goodfieldnohit says: Aug 1, 2014 12:12 AM

So the bottom line is, if you are a starter at UT, you can get your job back. Even after you’ve been dismissed.

    Justify that, you teasippers.
