Michigan State DT Knox out indefinitely following “some surgery”

Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio was not one to shed too many details about an injury to a potential starting defensive tackle on Saturday. Dantonio announced Damon Knox will be missing some practice time after undergoing surgery for an undisclosed injury.

“Damon Knox right now has got some surgery, so he’ll be out for a little bit of time,’' Dantonio said Saturday (via MLive.com) as the defending Big Ten champions opened fall camp. “But it is what it is, so we’ve got to deal with that. So we’ll have to see about injuries.’'

Thanks for the detailed report, Coach.

At this point in time this is certainly not a lot of information to go off of, and it is unknown whether or not Knox is expected to be ready for Michigan State’s season opener against Jacksonville State. Knox was projected to be a starter on Michigan State’s defensive line, so it would seem any missed playing time could be a problem for the Spartans, but even if he missed one game to start the season it would not seem to be too troublesome a concern against Jacksonville State.
