Wazzu’s Drew Loftus arrested again, charged with assault

For the second time in 18 months, Drew Loftus has stepped a toe or two -- or a couple of feet -- across the legal line.

His latest run-in with Johnny Law occurred very early Thursday morning, with the Spokane Spokesman-Review reporting that the Washington State wide receiver was arrested and charged with assault in the fourth degree following an incident that began inside a Pullman drinking establishment and eventually bled outside.

The victims were in Stubblefield’s bar and taking video of the atmosphere. They said that Loftus and another football player were upset at being videotaped because they were not supposed to be in the bar.

Once outside the bar, Loftus allegedly punched at least one of the two alleged victims. As the two alleged victims called police from a local Domino’s Pizza, Loftus fled on foot but was ultimately apprehended by officers from the Pullman Police Department.

There has been no comment from the school on what if any punishment Loftus is facing, although the player might not be long for the football program.

In February of 2013, Loftus was charged after stealing two bottles of tequila, which he attempted to smuggle out of the store by stuffing them down his pants. He was initially kicked off the team, but was permitted to return prior to the start of the 2013 season.

Additionally, before he transferred to Wazzu from Hawaii, he was arrested for suspicion of car prowling.

He did not play in 2013, and had just one catch for 37 yards in 2012.
