Behold! Lane Kiffin speaks with the media!

Alabama head coach Nick Saban spoke with the media on Sunday morning but in what turned out to be somewhat a rarity in Tuscaloosa, it was not Saban who was the big draw. That honor belonged to new Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, who is looking forward to getting back to focusing on football in a reduced role.

“As you make mistakes, the main thing is to learn from them,” Kiffin said. His next line is one that will certainly resonate with Tennessee fans. “I’ve made more than anybody, probably.”

As a quick side note, Alabama travels to Knoxville on October 25. Alabama is also scheduled to open the 2016 season against USC in Arlington, Texas.

Kiffin’s shortcomings at Tennessee are well-documented, and his USC career ended by being left at the airport after a road game. To say Kiffin’s career as ahead coach has been a disaster is perhaps an understatement, but the expectations are much higher for him as an offensive coordinator. He is no longer in a position to be the face of a program, which means he can focus more on one smaller role. His media availability pretty much ended Sunday as well, which will keep him out of the spotlight for the most part moving forward this season.

“Lane has done a really good job,” Saban said while speaking with the media Sunday. “It’s not just about knowledge. You have to be able to articulate it to player. Lane does that.”
