Freeze: Pelini not returning a call about recruiting concerns

Hugh Freeze

If there is one thing we know about college football coaches, it is they will not take kindly to another coach form another program suggesting any foul play. Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze has been hard at work in building something in Oxford, Mississippi since taking over the program, so he was not one to take kindly to the suggestion of poaching a player away from Nebraska.

Wide receiver Damore’ea Stringfellow was set to transfer from Washington to Nebraska but had a change of heart before following through. Stringfellow committed to join Ole Miss instead of the Huskers. How did this happen? Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini chose not to get into any specifics but let his point of view be pretty clear.

“Read between the lines,” Pelini said last week. “I think we all know what happened in that situation.”

As Ole Miss opened fall camp on Friday, Freeze was finally given a formal chance to address the comments from the Nebraska head coach. Freeze said he called Pelini to address the comment directly, but apparently Pelini was not in the mood to return the phone call.

“I reached out to him (Pelini) and said ‘hey, if you have something that I don’t know, please call me.’ I got no response,” Freeze told reporters Friday (via Ole Miss Insider). “I don’t know. I will say this, the lady I dealt with was very charming, intelligent and very observant. I think there are a lot of reasons that it may have gone our way. I’m sure he had a reason he said it. We’re glad we have String and his mom.”

Maybe Nebraska and Ole Miss can end up in the same bowl game at the end of the season so Pelini and Freeze can settle this squabble on the field.

of course he wont return the call. hes the typical big mouth, i.e. Bob Stoopid and Urban Liar, that love to hear their own voice say stupid things.

Pellini is just bitter that the Little 14 cant beat the SEC on the field or off of it.

Pellini is such ***classy*** coach! He goes out of his way to make unfounded statements laced with serious innuendo. Yet, when Freeze, who by all accounts is a classy coach, calls him to attempt to discuss it with him, he won’t! If I was a Husker fan I be screaming for the AD to find someone that has a better temperament/more mature than a 2 year old and can actually win!

Nice job Bo….how are you employed again?

However, spare me on the outrage…we are still supposed to believe that while Scam Newtons Dad admitted to shopping his kid around he chose Auburn for the opportunity.

Seeing browns comment about bob stoopins, urban liar, and pelini,.makes me smile. As a die hard husker fan , i love seeing bo’s name in the likes of those. They are some of the best coaches in ncaa, today. And who didnt beat the sec last year in bowl games?

Coach Pelini should have explained his charge if sustainable and at least have the courtesy to return HC freeze’s call. Bo can state that the recruit flipped due: to 1) Nebraska being outrecruited (no big deal), or 2) Freeze kept calling recruit after he committed to Nebraska (still within the rules) 0r 3) Ole Miss bought the recruit a new car and a house for his family (definitely not kosher).
