Report: Arkansas DB moving to Cincinnati

There had been rumors of Arkansas defensive back Chris Murphy contemplating a transfer for some time, but now it appears to have become a reality. Murphy will enroll at Cincinnati and join the team during fall camp, according to a report by Jeremy Fowler of CBSSports.com.

It remains to be seen if Murphy will be eligible to play this fall. Standard NCAA transfer rules require a player moving from one FBS program to another to sit out a season before being ruled eligible to play again. Although Murphy enrolled at Arkansas in the spring and has yet to play a game, it is possible he will have to follow the same transfer rules. Regardless of what happens with his eligibility for the 2014 season, this is a nice addition for Cincinnati looking into the future.

Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema said in late May he expected Murphy to return once rumors started up about a possible transfer by the early enrollee, although he admitted the situation was up in the air.

Murphy was a three-star prospect according to Rivals in the Class of 2014.
