One of Rutgers’ top WRs doubtful for Wazzu opener

When Rutgers takes the field for its regular season opener in a three weeks or so, they’ll likely do so without one of their top returning offensive playmakers in tow.

Head coach Kyle Flood confirmed Tuesday that wide receiver Ruhann Peele is suffering from an unspecified upper body injury. Peele suffered the injury during Monday’s practice.

Because of the health issue, Flood said the player is doubtful for the opener against Washington State.

It’s going to take some time,” the coach said. “Doubtful for the first game and then anything after that we’ll update you as we go.”

Peele finished fifth on the team last season with 28 catches for 478 yards. He was third on the team when, due to injuries, he was moved from receiver to cornerback in late October for a handful of games.
