Report: LSU loses starting DT Thomas to season-ending injury

This isn’t the way a head coach wants the first week of summer camp to go.

While the school has yet to confirm it, the Baton Rouge Advocate is reporting that Quentin Thomas suffered a torn biceps recently. As a result, the redshirt junior defensive tackle is expected to miss the entire 2014 season.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune subsequently confirmed the news.

The injury, which occurred during Wednesday’s practice, is expected to take at least six months to fully heal.

Thomas, a three-star recruit in 2011’s class, has played in 14 games the past two seasons, including 11 last season. He has started one game in his career, which came in the Outback Bowl following the 2013 regular season.

Entering summer camp, he was listed as a starter on the Tigers’ depth chart. The Times-Picayune writes that "[t]he likely replacement for Thomas will come from a group of redshirt freshmen Maquedius Bain, Greg Gilmore and Frank Herron.”
