Texas QB Onyegbule self-reports tearing his ACL and ligaments

The first day of the work week has not been a good one for the injury reports around fall camps. The latest hit comes from Austin, Texas, where senior Texas Longhorns quarterback Miles Onyegblue has announced via Facebook he has suffered a torn ACL and tears in other ligaments. The injuries will keep him inactive for the 2014 season.

Onyegblue made a position change this offseason to quarterback from tight end, but there was not much to be expected from him on the playing field this fall for Charlie Strong‘s Longhorns. As Burnt Orange Nation suggests, this could likely be the end of Onyegblue’s college playing career as a medical redshirt may not even come into question.

The Texas quarterback situation remains the same as it has, with David Ash the potential starter and Tyrone Swoopes and freshman Jerrod Heard making a push for depth chart positioning.

Earlier today we learned USC lost a linebacker for the season and Penn State put a tight end on the shelf indefinitely.
