2014 four-star TCU RB likely done for year

The lone four-star member of TCU’s 2014 recruiting class likely won’t see the field at all this season.

During practice last week, Shaun Nixon suffered what takes on the appearance of a rather significant knee injury. Because of that injury, the running back will be forced to undergo surgery to repair the unspecified damage.

Also because of that injury, it doesn’t appear Nixon’s head coach is expecting to see the true freshman on the field at all in 2014.

“If it’s going to happen, you want it to happen early,” Gary Patterson said. “Because now he’s got an opportunity to be back before spring ball.”

Coming out of high school in Austin, Tex., Nixon was rated as the No. 6 all-purpose running back in the country and the No. 18 player at any position in the state. He was easily the highest-rated member of TCU’s 2014 class.

Entering summer camp, Nixon was being looked at as an immediate contributor as a true freshman.
