Well that certainly didn’t take long.
Monday evening, Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema took to Twitter to announce that Otha Peters had decided to transfer from the Razorbacks. No reason was given, although “seeking an opportunity for playing time” would be a good place to start.
Two days later, the linebacker took to his Twitter account reveal his transfer destination.
That, of course, would be Louisiana-Lafayette of the Sun Belt Conference, which also happens to be in Peters’ home state. While the football program has yet to announce his addition to the roster, Peters reportedly enrolled in classes at UL-L yesterday and should begin practicing with his new teammates in short order.
Because of NCAA transfer rules, Peters will have to sit out the 2014 season. Beginning in 2015, Peters will have two years of eligibility remaining.
A four-star member of UA’s 2012 recruiting class, Peters was rated as the No. 6 inside linebacker in the country. After playing in 10 games in 2012 as a true freshman — starting the last three of that season — Peters was limited to just seven in 2013 during an injury-plagued season.
