Last weekend, Urban Meyer was quoted as saying Braxton Miller was “right on schedule” in his recovery from offseason shoulder surgery.
A week later? The status quo remains, which is a (potentially) very good thing for Buckeye fans.
The senior quarterback played during OSU’s scrimmage Saturday, although his pass attempts were limited. Limiting Miller’s pass attempts has been a running theme throughout the first couple of weeks of summer camp, so that facet of the report shouldn’t trigger any type of alarm.
When asked about Miller’s availability for the season opener against Navy two weeks from today, Meyer said, "[f]rom what they tell me, he’s still right on schedule.”
“I trust that’s he’ll be ready,” Meyer added.
Miller. one of the preseason Heisman favorites, underwent surgery on his right (throwing) shoulder in late February. He was extremely limited during spring practice, and the football program has erred on the side of caution ever since.
In other OSU quarterbacking news, Meyer indicated that, as has been intimated of late, redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett has moved ahead of redshirt sophomore Cardale Jones in the chase to be Miller’s backup. Barrett’s lead, though, is slight at the moment over Jones, who the school stated “took the vast majority of snaps at the position this spring with Braxton Miller out with a shoulder injury.”
