Running back Joe Bergeron was one of three members dismissed from the Texas Longhorns July 25th by head coach Charlie Strong . Three weeks after being dismissed from the University of Texas, Bergeron found a new home.
Bergeron traveled nearly four hours north to become a member of the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions. He practiced with his new team Saturday.

Prior to choosing Texas A&M-Commerce, Bergeron was “actively seeking his release from his scholarship.” By doing so, Bergeron was clearly looking to enroll at another university as quickly as possible, which he has done. Bergeron, a senior, would have to sit out this season if he wanted to transfer to another FBS program. Instead, Bergeron will be eligible to play for the Lions this fall since the school’s athletic programs are classified as NCAA Div. II participants.
During his three seasons at Texas, Bergeron ran the ball 272 times for 1,392 yards and 25 touchdowns.
