FSU WR Isaiah Jones declared academically ineligible

Expected to be one of the players who could potentially replace the production lost with Kelvin Benjamin‘s departure, Isaiah Jones will instead spend the next few months getting his academic house in order.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed that, via a tweet from Natalie Pierre of the Tallahassee Democrat, “Isaiah Jones is academically ineligible and unable to compete for the [Seminoles] this season.” The wide receiver will, though, be able to practice with the football team.

Jones will also remain enrolled at FSU and is still attending classes.

A four-star member of the Seminoles’ 2013 recruiting class, rated as the No. 28 receiver in the country and the No. 36 player at any position in the talent-rich state of Florida. As a true freshman last season, Jones caught two passes for 312 yard.

A foot injury cost the 6-4, 198-pound Jones the second half of his initial season in Tallahassee.
