Five-star RB plans to stay at Oklahoma

Joe Mixon isn’t leaving the University of Oklahoma.

Mixon was suspended from all football activities for a year Monday after the Cleveland County (Oklahoma) District Attorney’s office charged him with one misdemeanor count of an act resulting in gross injury.

The running back maintains his innocence in the matter, and the automatic question asked was whether or not he would remain at the school after its decision.

Mixon emphatically answered the question via twitter.

As part of the suspension, Mixon will not be allowed to participate in team activities and he will be excluded from the team’s roster. But Mixon can remain a student at the university and eligible for financial aid under the “appropriate conditions.”

Mixon’s presence would have been a boost to this year’s backfield. The Sooners, however, are not devoid of talent at running back. Sophomores Keith Ford and Alex Ross will be relied upon this fall, and Mixon will join the team’s stable of running backs in 2015.

I can hear Stoops talking to him now, “Mixon, you’re supposed to hit ON chicks, hit ON them–not just hit them.”

Of course not. This is the school that got Dusty Dvoracek a redshirt medical year for alcohol abuse, after he beat the crap out of his best friend with a baseball bat.

Stoops is the poster child of second, third, and fourth chances, as long as the player is really good on the football field.

Boomer Sooner! Plenty of schools out there do a lot less over worse….some teams even have a “vote” to see if a player plays or not. This is strike one @ OU for Mixon.. And he’s being severely punished for it. No team activities, no practices, no meetings, no athletic dorms, totally removed from the program. And if he proves he’s a good kid, and has learned/works hard, he may “earn” the chance to come back & try again… Tells me a lot about his character he’s not running for the hills tho…. Stoops has run about the cleanest program in the nation, for 15 years…..haters gonna hate- period.

I’m sure he’s going to take advantage his educational opportunities now.

    Should be in Jail.

Ridiculous. If the offense is good enough to get you suspended for a year, then it’s good enough to get you kicked out of school.

Had he been a 2- or 3-star type recruit, he would have been dropped like a bad habit.

If you really want to “run the cleanest program in the nation (LOL),” you do not let thugs like Mixon near legitimate college students.

I’ll be back when he rapes or kills someone.

    Nice lanyard.

    Mixon will “Never graduate”

If he was a Baltimore raven, this would be a two game suspension.

This guy couldn’t see the field without being arrested, there’s zero chance he makes it through his 4 years.

Way to go Stoops–I had more respect for you than that—-this is an Urban Meyer move.

If it were an SEC team he’d be suspended for one quarter. Way to hang in there Joe, we’ll get this thing going next season! Until them try to stay away from places where psychotic stalkers hang out
