Braxton Miller’s surgery goes well

Braxton Miller

Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller underwent surgery on his right shoulder Tuesday morning. All indications are the surgery went well.

Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer was asked for his update on Miller during the weekly Big Ten conference call. Meyer said he had spoken with his quarterback in the morning and was pleased to share there were no surprises and that everything had gone as well as hoped for. Miller will still be out for the 2014 season while he undergoes rehab his shoulder, and he has stated he intends to return to Columbus in 2015. Time will tell if Miller follows through on that plan or decides it is time to take a chance in the NFL Draft rather than risk another season at the college level.

Miller took to his Instagram account to share a photo of him smiling in a cast with Dr. James Andrews hovering above him. Miller is all smiles, which is always a pleasant sight to see for anyone coming out of surgery.

    Honest question. Who picks up the health insurance tab for athletes in college?

    I assume the university does (he got hurt playing football for the university).

    And rather than risk news coming out saying that the OSU surgeon that did the 1st surgery “botched” it, OSU just pays to have Andrews do it.

    I assume the same but never really thought about it. Would the college in this case also send their number 4 QB to Doc Andrews given all the same facts?

    I wonder how much a Dr. James Andrews ACL costs…. $25k?

    @kinggator

    I’m sure the university footed the bill for that one…

    I’m sorry Kevin… His “shoulder” is not in a cast… He will be undergoing physical therapy right away as to not “freeze up” the shoulder… The shoulder is an area of the body that if you immobilize it, scare tissue builds up very quickly and within 1-2 weeks he would lose 20-40 % mobility in that extremity… what you see is merely a sling to hold up his arm to alleviate shoulder sag. As is shown, ice is being applied. He more than likely has a medicine ball with a small tube leading directly into the afflicted area releasing a pin killer directly… The rest is bandaging….
