Brian Kelly: Everett Golson is ‘taking next step of leadership’

Brian Kelly, Everett Golson

When Everett Golson was readmitted to Notre Dame, the quarterback had to prove himself all over again.

Golson started 11 games in 2012, including the BCS National Championship Game, but he wasn’t handed the starting position upon his return. Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly eventually named Golson the team’s starting quarterback Aug 13. Since then, Golson has grown into a legitimate leader within the program.

Kelly discussed Golson’s evolving status as a leader and updated the team’s injury situation during his Tuesday meeting with the media:

I’m sure he’s taking the next step at cheating. Typical Notre Cheat University!

    Notre Dame 12-step “leadership” program:

1)Get back on team after being suspended for cheating.
2)Wait for other teams to get got cheating before resuming with cheating.
    3)Continue cheating without getting caught.
4)Go back to wishing Notre Dame could play like the “champions” they used to be 30+ years ago.
5)Lose and blame it on “academic standards.”
6)…the rest don’t even matter because it’ll be week 2 or 3 soon enough and ND will be irrelevant again by then.

It’s actually someone else’s leadership he’s passing off as his own.

Notre Dame – where we don’t behave like everyone else.
    Except when we do.
Then we praise ourselves for stopping and correcting the bad behavior.
    Until the next time.
Don’t you know how hard it is to be Notre Dame?
