Alabama suspends starting linebacker for opener

Trey DePriest

Alabama is taking on West Virginia in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff on Saturday, but they will do so without a starting linebacker. Senior Trey DePriest has been suspended for the season opener for what is being reported as a minor NCAA infraction. Head coach Nick Saban announced the suspension Wednesday.

The details of the infraction have been unconfirmed, but playing DePriest while an investigation is ongoing would put any potential wins in jeopardy of being vacated down the line if it is ruled he would have been ineligible.

DePriest started 13 games last season with 65 tackles for the Crimson Tide and will be a starter for the team this season, pending the results of the investigation of course. According to, Alabama will start Reggie Ragland and Reuben Foster at linebacker.

This is all part of an elaborate scheme from Nicky to allow his home state flagship school to defeat Dixie so that he can hear John Denver blaring from the Georgia Dome sound system and immediately strip and don the colors of his blood (old gold and blue).

A guy can dream, right 😉

It wasn’t that he was caught going to class, I heard from a source that he was taking 300 level classes & after a second look at his final, he failed. You see, at an institution of higher learning like Alabama, they take coloring very serious & one is only allowed to get outside the lines 10 or les times. Poor ole Trey got outside the lines 12 times my source said.

I do hope that everyone saw the sarcasm I my last post. I posted it only as a joke. I am not a hater of Alabama football. I love college football & it traditions. Alabama has a great tradition & a game day atmosphere that is second to none! I go to a Bama home game every year & ah loved each time. One of my best friends is a life long bama fan & I use one of his season tickets each year & go with him.
