Oklahoma State QB J.W. Walsh in a boot

A week after showing great poise in leading Oklahoma State’s upset bid against top-ranked Florida State, J.W. Walsh was forced to leave the home opener early in Stillwater on Saturday. His status after suffering a right foot injury remains uncertain with Oklahoma State preparing for a home game against feisty UTSA this weekend.

On the Big 12 coaches conference call Monday Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy stated Walsh will remain in a boot and be re-evaluated on Tuesday. It is unconfirmed whether that decision will be made just for this week’s game or for a longer period of time.

Walsh completed 15 of 27 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown in the season opener against Florida State. He also led the Cowboys with 51 rushing yards and another touchdown in the losing effort. Before exiting Saturday’s game against Missouri State, Walsh had competed five of nine passes for 30 yards and rushed for 42 yards.
