Supreme Court upholds suspension for Sooners LB Shannon

Oklahoma linebacker Frank Shannon had hoped a higher legal power would overturn a suspension. It did not work.

An Oklahoma Supreme Court ruling has sided with the university in enforcing the season-long suspension, which was issued in August. Shannon was suspended by the university for one year following accusations of being involved in a sexual assault in April. Shannon later claimed Oklahoma was using him as a scapegoat. Shannon took advantage of his chance to appeal the school’s decision, taking the issue to the courts.

The court documents can be viewed here. All documents related to this case are to be sealed, per a court order.

Shannon was Oklahoma’s defensive leader in 2013 with 92 tackles. He still has another year of eligibility after this season.
