Arizona St.'s Strong, Miss. St.'s Brown claim Week 6 Camp honors

Two of the heroes from two of the biggest upsets on an upset-laden Saturday have staked their respective claims to national honors.

As they do each week during the regular season, the fine folks at the Walter Camp Foundation have named it’s two national players if the week. For Week 6, that would be Arizona State wide receiver Jaelen Strong as the Offensive Player of the Week and Mississippi State linebacker Richie Brown as Defensive Player of the Week.

In ASU’s last-second win over No. 16 USC, Strong caught 10 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns. The last scoring reception was a 46-yard Hail Mary with no time left as the Sun Devils stunned the Trojans 38-34.

Strong is the second-ever Sun Devil accorded Canp honors, joining quarterback Andrew Walter in 2004.

Brown, meanwhile, swiped three interceptions in MSU’s huge win over sixth-ranked Texas A&M. That total tied a school record.

Brown is also the second Bulldog, along with linebacker Quinton Culberson in 2006, to earn Camp accolades.
