Alabama TE caught with 112 grams of marijuana, nearly five grand in cash

Sophomore tight end Kurt Freitag has not recorded a statistic for Alabama this season. I wouldn’t expect that to change anytime soon.

According to court records uncovered Monday by AL.com, a search of Freitag’s Bryant Hall dorm room yielded 112 grams of marijuana and $4,661 in cash. The West Alabama Narcotics Task Force was reportedly tipped off recently to a pending drug deal involving Freitag, and caught him in the act last Tuesday.

Though he was confronted by law enforcement and read his Miranda rights, the report states it was not apparent he was charged with a crime. The agents, naturally, did seize the drugs and the cash.

An Alabama spokesperson acknowledged to the paper that the school would look into the incident and offered no further comment. Law enforcement declined to comment as well.

A sophomore out of Buford, Ga., Freitag appeared in two games as a freshman and recorded one reception for 11 yards.
