Stanford’s Aziz Shittu could be lost for significant time with injury

To answer your question, yes, a large part of the reason for me posting on this topic was the ability to type that surname in the headline. You have a problem with that?

Regardless of whether you do or don’t, it is a rather significant injury that slammed into Stanford defensive line as Aziz Shittu will, at minimum, miss this Saturday’s game against Arizona State. The Cardinal declined to specify the nature of the injury, although the fact that it was a non-contact injury that occurred during practice doesn’t sound promising.

In fact, there’s a possibility that Shittu will miss the remainder of the regular season.

We’ll see how the rehab goes,’' head coach David Shaw said when asked about a timeline for a return. “We were excited about where he was headed.”

Shittu has played in the last five games this year after sitting out the opener. He’s listed as the co-starter at one defensive end along with Blake Leuders as well as the No. 2 defensive tackle on the most recent depth chart.
