Alabama RB Tyren Jones ‘suspended for now’

While it’s not yet AIRBHG level, the 2014 season has not been particularly kind to Alabama’s deep stable of running backs.

Kenyan Drake was lost for the season due to injury earlier this month. Leading rusher T.J. Yeldon is dealing with a foot issue and likely won’t practice at all this week.

Compounding the situation at the position? Nick Saban confirmed Tuesday that Tyren Jones is “suspended for now” from the football team. The why of Jones’ suspension was, of course, left unstated by the head coach.

It must not be something too serious, however, as Saban left the door wide open for a quick return.

“If Tyren Jones does what he’s supposed to, maybe he’ll be back sometime soon,” Saban said.

Jones is currently fourth on the team, and third among running backs, with 123 yards rushing.
