No injury update on Sooners QB Trevor Knight

Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight had to leave Saturday’s loss to Baylor in the fourth quarter due to a neck injury. Knight did not practice with the team on Monday, but head coach Bob Stoops told reporters there was no official update available for the starting quarterback. Stoops hopes to have an update to make a decision on Knight’s playing status later this week as Oklahoma prepares to play Texas Tech.

Knight has started all nine games for Oklahoma this season and has thrown for 2,197 yards and 14 touchdowns with nine interceptions. Knight has also contributed running the football with 340 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. If Knight is unable to start for the Sooners this week, then look for Stoops to put the offense in the hands of freshman Cody Thomas. Thomas has appeared in four games this season and has completed just seven of 16 passes for 50 yards. If he has to get the start, Thomas would not be going up against a team with a no-fly zone. The Red Raiders have allowed 256.6 passing yards per game and opposing quarterbacks have a combined rating of 148.68 this season. Texas Tech has a Big 12 worst three interceptions this season

Stoops also had no updates on wide receiver Sterling Shephard or cornerback Julian Wilson. Shephard did not play for Oklahoma this past weekend against Baylor due to a nagging groin injury. Wilson broke his thumb early in the game against Baylor and was eventually given rest as the game progressed.
