Report: Stefon Diggs to miss Michigan game

Maryland will be lacking in wide receiver depth this week when the Terrapins head to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan. Stefon Diggs, who was eligible to return to the field this week after serving a one-game suspension, is not expected to play against the Wolverines due to a kidney injury.

The Baltimore Sun reports Diggs has not practiced this week and will not play this weekend at Michigan. Diggs suffered a lacerated kidney on November 1 in a road game at Penn State. It was initially feared Diggs may not return for Maryland’s final games, so missing the Michigan game may not be a shock.

Diggs was forced to miss last weekend’s home game against Michigan State due to a suspension issued by the Big Ten, but he likely would have missed the game anyway due to the injury. Diggs was suspended for pregame conduct at Penn State, in which Diggs made contact with a Big Ten official during a pregame scuffle.

With Diggs reportedly unavailable this week, Jacquille Veii is expected to get the start in his place for a second straight game. Veii had four catches for 45 yards last weekend against Michigan State.

Juwann Winfree will also be unavailable this week. He was suspended by the team for two games earlier this week for a violation of team rules.
